Dr. Tanesha Rorie (She/Her/Hers) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling at Malone University, specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Dr. Rorie received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from The Ohio State University and earned her PhD from Kent State University in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2018.
She currently has a private practice in which she specializes in interpersonal therapeutic practices through a cultural feminist framework. She has experience working with communities of color, specifically Black/African American individuals and women of color. Dr. Rorie also has experience working with the college population including work with LGBTQ+ folx and couples counseling.
She has teaching experiences in counseling programs dating back to 2015 and has served in various capacities in professional counseling organizations, including service as the President for the Ohio Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (2022-2023). Dr. Rorie’s research projects and passions fall in the areas of cross-cultural counseling and supervision, social justice and advocacy, and black mental health experience. She also has research interests in the areas of sports counseling and postpartum counseling for birthing individuals. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Counseling and Development, Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development, and Counselor Education and Supervision. She has also presented at conferences at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
